With L6, 3 speed saginaw, and NP 205 out and on the floor, the NP 205 came right off, showing the 10 spline female fitting in the adapter. The adapter will slide back about 1/4 inch and stop. It feels like it is up against something solid. All the bolts are out.

I've searched and not found this problem in previous posts. Could someone help?

Thanks.

My guess is that the splined sleeve and or output shaft on the tranny are twisted and stuck together. Give a gentle tap on the front side of the adapter or try tapping the drive sleeve toward the trans to "unstick" the sleeve.

Tried your advice to no avail. Gave up because its too hot.

It feels like it is blocked by something solid.

Could be a snap-ring on the transmission's output shaft. Got pictures?
