it was supposed to be white but oh well just have to get a good white led strip and replace this one
i did add 4 zip ties in the middle to hold in case it comes away from the 3m tape so it wont welt to the engine
it also came with a push switch like a door jamb switch but i put it to a toggle

lights up really well in the dark
My luck, I'd forget that thing being on for two months and have a worthless battery lol.

I put a factory one from a GMT400 on my 82 GMC,bolted it to the right front fender on the engine side,the type that has a lamp on a reel,with about 15 feet of wire..
--don't think I have used it more than twice though,since I no longer drive at night unless I have no choice..my night vision sucks and the new LED headlamps and tail lamps blind the
out of me..

Whoa. I have under hood light envy. The led strip gave me flashbacks to my days building show cars in the early to mid 2000's. Everyone wanted led strips mounted in the body kits.
Cool idea. I have one from a GMT400 like @diesel4me mentioned.

Well more than once I have to pop the hood at night and holding a flashlight and trying to see wth is going on sucks
last time it happened the Hei hot wire cane lose and killed motor. In the dark with a little flashlight sucks
Since then I put the locking clip on so can’t happen anymore

I started putting rechargeable LED headbands in all my trucks. Anymore I have one on anytime I'm working on a vehicle.

Honestly, they are hit or miss quality wise. Regardless of the brand. The Chinese amazon specials can’t be beat. You can get four rechargeable ones for $20-30 and they are bright as sh!t. I’ve bought 8(4 rechargeable)in the last four years and all but one still work.
I have several of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BHNZJNM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 in different colors. It's coming up on 1 year that I've had them and so far no problems. One of them is used almost every night for reading with the red light.
