underhood light

All the newer GM trucks have the same style light. The 90's ones tilt like the one described, not sure about 2000 and newer.

1 wire hookup.

Need to get one of my extras installed!

None that I have ever seen had them, but that doesn't mean much. Those lights I dislike however, since they rely on a tilt switch. I have seen far too many stick on and drain a battery.

I put one of the 88 & up ones that were factory on my pickup, right next to the battery--makes hooking up the plow much easier at night!..it has a manual switch that you must remember to shut off though!..

My uncle in Reno has a survivor 1960 Chevy Apache 10 with a factory retractable under hood light in it.

My '79 F150 came with one under the hood. Had the built in tilt switch. I don't know if it was mercury or ball.
A lot of the switches that have been destroyed under the federal mercury panic were actually ball switches instead of mercury.

It used an 1156 bulb, which gave good light, but I swapped it for an 1195 which was bright!

I also went to the dealer and bought a second socket which I mounted under the top of my tool box.
That way, I could not only see how to work on the engine at night, I could see how to find my tools and parts too.
