Are they any good, and will they do anything to throw off the engine? I -think- I have one on my Blazer because I replaced it, but that was six years ago. Anyway, my brothers truck needs one. Can we just get a cheapo $45 dollar one, or do we need an O.E. replacement?

I don't think the tbi will care at all. On my 87 I cut the cat off and it didn't change anything. It might not last as long but it's cheap so who cares.

there is 2 gas and 3 gas cats .

and lots of cheepy ones these days don't last.

but yes cheepy on a tbi prob be fine . if 96-up newer I wouldn't do it .

FWIW, I've had a cheap one on my 1991 K5 for about 2 years now and it's been fine, passed emissions twice now.

I've used them on three different trucks no with no ill effect. My 94'has had one since I bought it and the exaust was rotted off. Put it in and haven't had a problem in 4 years.if he does jump the dunes get pics and post them please

The newer rigs with pre and post cat O2 sensors are picky.

Go with good / OE ones.

Older trucks with just pre-cat o2 sensors don't care what happens after the o2 sensor.
