GM Marine Engine HP3

GM has combined the previous standard GEN VI short block, with the latest LS1 Cylinder Head and Fuel Injection Technology. HP3 engines have High Flow RECTANGLE (LS1 Cathedral shaped) SPREAD PORT 14 Degree Heads and a New Raised D-Shaped Exhaust ports, with 2.19 int. 1.72 exh. valves. These heads flow 340 on the int. and 250 exhaust. The block is a standard Gen. VI 4.25 bore, 4 bolt mains, Tall deck (10.2) Heavy Duty casting truck block. To increase strength they added (4) EXTRA Cylinder head bolts, making (5) per cylinder. These heads can only be used on these blocks. The fuel injection system is Identicle to the LS1. It has the same (SFI) Sequential Fuel Injection, with a low profile Aluminum intake manifold. It looks exactly like a giant LS1 intake. This engine has the same super efficent COIL ON PLUG IGNITION SYSTEM (distributorless), and a Large 75MM Throttle Body (LS1). This engine has a special Hydraulic Roller Cam (242 252 @ .050 114LS) with a smoother revised firing order 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3. Like the LS1, this engine has Hyperutectic pistons( 9.5 to 1 ), Forged cracked cap rods (6.535), nodular Iron internally balanced (4.37) stroke Crankshaft, aluminum oil pan w/ windage tray, aluminum timing cover

From the Ohio Revised Codes:

§ 4503.41. License plates for disabled veterans.

Any disabled veteran who, because of a service-connected disability, has been or is awarded funds for the purchase of a motor vehicle under the "Disabled Veterans' and Servicemen's Automobile Assistance Act of 1970," 84 Stat. 1998, 38 U.S.C. 1901, and amendments thereto, and any disabled veteran having a service-connected disability rated at one hundred per cent by the veterans' administration, may apply to the registrar for the registration of the disabled veteran's personal motor vehicle without the payment of any registration fee and service fee as required by sections 4503.04, 4503.10, and 4503.102 [4503.10.2] of the Revised Code, and without the payment of any local motor vehicle tax levied under Chapter 4504. of the Revised Code. The application for registration shall be accompanied by such documentary evidence of disability as the registrar may require by rule.

Upon the receipt of an application for registration of a motor vehicle under this section, and presentation of satisfactory evidence of disability, the registrar shall issue to the applicant a set of license plates, which shall be red, white, and blue in color and shall, in addition to the letters and numbers ordinarily inscribed thereon, be inscribed with the word "veteran" and imprinted with the international wheelchair symbol.

If that is your plate described above, God bless your sacrifice. Either way, nice Burb, glad you served, and let's see some more detailed pics of the rig all over. That thing is spotless.

Rock of the Marne. Hooorahh!! Bitchin sub. Have one just like, except for all the $$$$ in it. Yours not running the 4l80e?

Have you wacked that dif cover on anything yet? I read an article some time back in Four Wheeler, or Petersen's, where they reviewed diff covers and one of them was the clear polycarbonate one. I think they mashed it good, but I don't know if it ever split open.

WOW, Someone knows who the 3RD ID is. Thats SWEET!!!!
A big thanks to all of you who gave that piece of work, some thing to think about!!!!

in that pertersons test, the clear gears never failed. infact i think it was like 2nd or 3rd. when they hit it with a sledge hammer, it actually bounced back at them.

sweet burb brother   . from 1 Army vet to another , thank you for your sacrifice and don't let the p!$$y one from Texas get you fired up . Had he really payed attention to your lic plate and not went off like he did he wouldn't have looked like such an a$$ :haha: . I bet he feels pretty small now ;) .

Is the inside of your 14 bolt painted red? Is there any problem with the paint coming off? What kind of paint is it? The clear cover looks cool, I'd like to get one.

Just a quick comment on the hadicap plates, not at all intended for DaPlumber, but just in general - Abuse of the handicap tags does exist. An ex-girlfriend's dad had one to use when they brought Grandma with them, because she was actually handicapped, but he used it all the time - even when Grandma was at home.

Beautiful truck
take the whining personal comments to pms... they are way outta line and DO detract from focusing on such a nice build

Your rock is still sitting in front our batallion HQ. We had spring clean up on friday and I actually went and pulled weeds out of the pavestones around the 3rd ID monument.

Sounds great! Once piece of advice, scrap the Ox Ujoints immediately. If you run them, they will break. No questions asked. Your axle shafts will be collateral damage. You'll be very sorry and very mad. Ask anyone who's ever dealt with the Ox Joints. They're almost as strong as two crossed sticks held together with chewing gum.

Just out of curiosity...is the 3rd out of fort carson. Spent alot of drill weekends at carson and i ahve it in my head they are out of carson. Up until this last month i was in the 244th CEB (H) - A co. Det 1. Hung up my hat with 15 years...that was enough for me.

I think i need to cut and paste the specs on that motor...very interesting.
I recently robbed some good parts from a 91 R2500 in my local boneyard. 91 was the only year a 3/4 ton burb or 1 ton 4x4 crew came with the 4L80E. I took the ecm which is different than the standard 7747 due to the ecm running some functions for the 4L80E and i also robbed the complete harness from bumper to bumper for a future project. I just can't get the wife to ok the $675 they want for the 4L80E thats still in it as we are buying some land and spending money when you are in the financing stage is a no go.

The power mirrors were a 90-91 thing and hard to find. Even harder to find a bone yard donor with an intact harness. I've been looking for 2+ years now for that damn harness. Someday when i actually get lucky and get one i'll start moding harness's from previous years so no one else has to go thru the look forever mode.

Damn...that burb looks so nice it makes me want to steal my wifes V2500 when we buy her a new one next year and do a few things with it....

Like everybody these days 3ID has brigade's all over the place. I think their official HQ is Ft. Stewart, Georgia. With the realignment going on here in Germany right now 1ID is back in Kansas but the entire 2nd brigade is still here and we still wear the big red one patch but report to 1AD.... go figure, Anyway I know 4ID has a brigade at Carson as well

"I’m just a dog face soldier,
with a rifle on my shoulder."

Fort Stewart is official home to the 3rd Infantry Division - Mechanized, the third brigade is in Fort Benning GA and the Aviation Brigade at Hunter Army Airfield.
formerly the 24th Infantry Division - Mechanized. Nicknamed the "Marne Division" after the historic battle of the Marne River in France during WWI, the reputation of the 3rd Infantry Division equals the 24th.

Are you replying to me? I don't really think I'm whining. And the original poster would rather talk about infintry divisions instead of bothering to answer my questions or comment further on his truck anyway, which also detracts from focusing on such a nice build. There's a lounge for infintry division talk if you wanna be like that.

ok.. you think youre not whining... and my comment was general.. not specific to you..jeez... this is getting like pirate...now thats whining

back on thread

nice truck...
tell us about the build
