I pulled down 19.86 MPG in my Suburban tonight...

Don't know what or how it happened. Not sure on the variables, other than since the first of June I've been buying gas from one place(with a couple fill ups at a different station in OR, last was about a 3 weeks ago) and almost always the same pump always stopping after it first clicks off(fuel gauge always shows the same at this point too, which is past full). Only way I can figure it is the 147 miles I drove were on flat ground with only about 20 miles or so being city. Between home and work I usually set the cruise for 60.

I've been keeping track of my MPG since I bought the truck, with mostly city driving I get 12.5-13. Last few weeks I've seen a steady 14.5-15 with a 40/60 mix of city and highway. I did one test a month back and got similar results(19.4 if I remember right) when I drove 28 miles between two stations strictly highway.

Thoughts? Am I nuts?

It is very possible, especially if you are sticking close to 60 MPH. With my little trailer hooked to the Blazer, and cruising about 60, which is about 1800 RPMs on mine, I was getting steady 13 MPG. Without the trailer, and doing the same type of driving, I regularly get about 15 MPG. It is just hard for me to slow down enough to get decent mileage.

I've been able to pull close to 20 mpg in the 4x4, but I think I just got lucky with the conditions as it was fairly flat, no headwind and mid 80's temp. I was able to get 12-14 mpg on the towrig before I hit the hills. Drove over 90 miles and barely budged the gauge. Started going up and down the hills and it dropped pretty fast. Course pulling a 32' 5k lb travel trailer in a 6k lb truck with no overdrive (running 2500 rpm's at 60 mph) really takes its toll on the gas tank. :D

As long as i dont go over 65 with no head wind. I average 18-20 MPG on the interstate in my 89 K5. I DD it to work and put on around 220 miles a week. Usually only use 10- 12 gallons per week. My drive is mostly all highway.

That's the same for me.. after seeing the condition of my plugs, cap, and rotor I'm a little surprised though :eek1: Now I'm off to go figure out why it stalls...
