Update build of my 73 J##p J-4000 FSJ (lot of pics)

have you changed the q-trac out for something else(did i miss it). Are you running you rear drive-shaft at an angle? If so; do you have problems with that setup? Can you post a pic of the rear d-shaft?

freakin sweet ride by the way

I've always been a huge fan of those J-Trucks. If I could find one with a decent body on it, I would seriously consider trading my mint cond. 82 K30 for it. I've always wanted one !!!!! Nice frickin' truck dude!!!

It's a good thing I subscribed to this thread, or I would have never known that somebody resurrected it:shocked:. I kinda quit doing build threads on the forums I'm on because I never got any feedback anymore.

Unfortunately, I sold the Jeep for FAR less than it was worth late last year for a deal that ended up going wrong. That's a decision that I'll regret for the rest of my life.:(

I had the quadra trac in there the whole time, I hated it. I had the rear yoke slightly pointed at the transfer case IIRC. I never had any problems with it even though it was a spliced together POS shaft that was never balanced.

Since this thread I went to college, then painted it flat black, built a rear bumper, put hydraulic assist on it and wheeled it a little but never could push it due to the insane angle on the front driveshaft. I wanted to bring it in and build it right now that I have a home and my own garage with better skills but a deal came along that made me decide to sell it before I could do it.

After it went bad I called the guy who bought it and he had allready sold it for $1,000 more to someone else who wanted $2,000 for it without the tires and axles. I couldn't afford it.

I'm not sure what's happened to it now, I'm just hoping the new owner is treating it well instead of swapping out the one tons for half tons and smaller tires and selling it like he told me he was thinking about doing.

If you want any more pics of it or information then ask away. I had a hand on every nut and bolt on that thing.

cool...I dig the old Jeep trucks too :waytogo:

My first "car" was a CJ-7...seeing a CJ-5 running over any vehicle is just....funny...to me! :D

Hell yeah! I had a 91 grand wagoneer as my first ride. Had the "final edition" badge on the dash and everything. That thing was a damn tank! I kind of wish I hadn't sold it, but I like my 93 chevy and my 72 blazer better anyways. Maybe down the road I'll try to grab another one.
