I've been thinking about getting some new seats for the Jimmy and my gf says she wants to buy me some as a 3 year anniversary/early Christmas present! :waytogo: So, two new front seats! So, I'm thinking about some Corbeau baja ultras in the extra wide style. I'm about 6'3", 275lbs, 42" waist, think they'll work? Those that have them, how do you like them? Is there a better seat option at the price (about $500 for both)? Thanks y'all!:thumb:

Update- I've had my Twisted Stitch seats for quite some time now. Haven't mounted them in the truck yet but, they are PIMP! Very comfy!

have em, love em. they are soo snug it makes you feel like you dont need to buckle in. Freakin Great seat!

I have the PRP Seats and love them but that'a not my point. My point is that My PRP's are the Daily Driver model in the Wide version. I believe that the Ultras have a similar type of seat to the Daily Driver that has the lower bolsters for your sides and legs. They still keep you very snug in the seat but it make entry and exit of the truck so much easier. With the DD type of lower bolstering you are not haveing to continually climb up, over and then drop down into the seat to get in and then in reverse to get out. Just my $.02

I have the beard ultra's wide and tall. I am about the same size as you and I absolutely love them. They were close to $500 each unfortunatly but they are extremely comfortable

I have a set of brand new never used Corbeau Baja SS ultra seats but not in the wide. I would sell them to you for a good price but again there not wide. They are very nice seats. All the top name seats are. I have the Mastercraft Rubicons, there very nice. I just ordered a rear matching bench at the Off Road Expo this weekend. Look at the new company called Twisted Stitch. They make some bad ass seats.

Thanks for the responses everybody!

Cool deal! I like the fact that they hold ya snug, I'm just wondering if they might be TOO tight for me?

Good point, Maybe Corbeau Baja RS seats, anybody got them?

Look like very nice seats! But, too pricey!:eek1:

Thanks for the offer but, I need wides! I'm a fat arse! :D Mastercrafts look nice but wow! Pricey! :eek1: Twisted stitch has some nice looking stuff but, it looks a little too modern of designs to match the look I'm going for (dang, I am way too picky, huh?).

Kinda maybe liking the looks of the Corbeau Baja RS seats, to get the recline feature, anybody have/had a set? Opinions? Which do y'all think would probably be the best at about $600 (can up the price a little bit), Baja ultra wides or Baja RS?

Looking for a good, safe, affordable, and comfy seat, what do y'all think? I want something that will keep me comfy and protected on a long ride (be it road or trail). Also want a good bit of side bolstering (side hilling in the stock seats feels like I am going to slide clean out!), and I want something that will be safe in an accident or roll (I'm considering incorporating 5 point harnesses when I build my roll cage in school). Gonna be taking motorsports Chassis Fab class, learning to weld in class, and building the Jimmy a cage as my project so, these seats will determine the cage design to some extent.

Thanks for the opinions and help so far! Keep it coming! :D

Seat material, vinyl vs cloth, opinions? I like the comfort and look of cloth better but, how well does it stand up to abuse and how easy to clean? Might have to go vinyl?

Oh, also, I have never dealt with any of the companies that carry seats before, any help as to who would be good to order from would be greatly appreciated, thanks y'all!:D

Sorry about all the random questions, I'm really nervous about this, I have never ordered custom seats before! :1zhelp: Thanks!

I have the Beard ultra wides also with the seat brackets to mount them to the floor boards love'um. Ordered them with the twied cloth in the middle and vinyl on the outside.

The Baja SS Ultra Wide's will run you 259 per seat. Seat belts will run you $79/$89 bucks per seat, and Mounting brackets are $94, your looking at $864 before tax and shipping. Here is a link. I dont think you will get any better price them buying direct. The regular Ultra is 1 inch wider then a Baja SS. Then you can get the Ultra Wide.

Near as I can tell, they encourage you to order from an authorized dealer, not directly from the factory? Did you order direct?

Those are some nice seats you've got there! I've got my heart set on black though (I'm in the process of converting my interior over from dark blue to black). Thanks though bro!

You're quite right about the expenses adding up to well over my estimate on cost, I should have been more specific :doah:: My gf wants to buy the seats for me and can put $600 toward them, I would be covering the remainder and I can't afford to spend a bundle right now.)

Thanks again! :waytogo:

I bought mine at the OFF ROAD EXPO a few years age. I have had them stored in plastic wrap ever since. There as nice as the day I opened the boxes.

I actually just sat in some Baja RS seats the other day in a jeep my friend is building. VERY NICE! Unfortunatly I didnt get to ride in them cuz his engine swap isnt done. Im 6'1" 230lbs and it was comfy enough for me to say "woah these seats are nice, what are they?" and forget what I was looking for in the console. Being they recline they should be very nice in a daily driven rig.

Hmm, good deal! I'm kinda starting to lean toward the RS seats so that I can have the option of reclining the seats. I wish I had a way to be able to test the seats before I order but, it's not looking likely! Thanks!

If your looking for a DD seat that can pull double duty and be comfortable to trail blaze and wheel in, a Corbeau or Mastercraft reclining seat is nice, But for ultimate strength for hardcore wheeling I don't think there the way to go. They are not solid welded, they have a hinge so there is a failure point. They would probably hold up for a long time though. You will never find one in ANY kind of race vehicle for sure.

I got 'em but, I think I may have a problem: The problem I have is I am 6'3" tall so, the shoulder harness slots are about 4" below my shoulders (the top of the seat head rest is at the base of the back of my skull).

First question: are these seats even safe for me or should I special order bigger seats?

Second question: can the shoulder straps of the harness be used without going through the slots and be safe? (they'd be rather uncomfortable if run through the slots, seems to me).

pirates vender section has some great prices, porc is I believe who I ordered some though, they drop ship them of coarse

Thanks bro! But, the thing is, I already have them and I am wondering if they will be okay to go ahead and use or if they would be unsafe for me due to the fact that they are technically a bit undersized for me. (I got two front buckets and a rear bench)

My 94 blazer headrests are like that. On the harnesses, the shoulder straps should not be below horizontal. in a wreck your body will go forward(even if strapped tight). The harness will compress your spine.

If your looking for real safety, you might sell and reinvest in proper seats.

Hope this helps, Kenny

Thanks y'all! Yup, thinking new seats. Thinking about Twisted Stitch, anybody have an opinion on them? I talked to one of their guys and he said he could do the dimensions that I need in the black vinyl I want, seem to be very good customer service! Anybody gotten seats from them?
