Despite everyone's input from the other thread, you would still recommend against using the bushing? My truck normally ONLY sees mud... so I need something that won't fowl up with mud.

Would anyone out there give me suggestions as to which clutch I should use? I have two different types, but only one good disc. I have a new drive sleeve coming, and I just want to make sure that these clutches are going to be OK!

That one clutch you have the "?" about is a diaphram clutch. there is almost no down side to using that style....smoother, easier usage on your leg, the same "holding" power. Its what I have in my truck. Most all clutches are now that style AFAIK.

ahh, but i can see that TO MUCH GRIP CAN BE BAD. specialy on the rocks. a little slip is needed now an then. a stock heavy duty or centerforce single friction should be fine.

Very true. My dodge buddy wanted a new clutch and he brought the dual friction over adn I told him he wasn't gonna like it. But I put it in anyway, and now what does he tell me.....

agreed... Now I just have to figure out how to get it out of there, and into the "good trans"! /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif Never cracked a 465 open before... so I have no idea where to start. I think I might just yank the top cover and see where that gets me...
If there is any place I can go to learn how to swap output shafts, I would love to know about it! /forums/images/icons/wink.gif Thanks all!

Geting the top cover off is a trick in itself. Shift the tranny halfway into reverse and lift the cover. It will not come off unless it's in that position. As for the swap...you're actually swapping mainshaft assemblies.
Remove the front bearing support and the input shaft. Check around the rear output area for snap rings or anything along those lines. I think the shift fork assembly needs to be removed and then you can turn the tranny on it's front face and wriggle out the mainshaft and gear clusters.

The shift fork stuff will come off with the top cover...
I'd have to print it out and have a 465 in front of me. I disassembled my NV4500 with no reference materials to go by. It isn't that difficult...just time consuming and you need some of the special tools they list.

I only need the clamshell bearing puller if I plan to replace the bearings inside, right? It kinda looks like to me that you only need most of those tools if you rebuild the trans... I just need to swap the output shaft assemblies between the two transmissions... Can I do that without special tools?
