If I went with a performance ignition system such as MSD 6AL, will I need to buy a new distributor to replace my HEI with? What else will I need?

Shouldnt need a new Dizzy since ya already got an HEI. Jus have to splice some wires unless they come with a Plug and Play harness. The 6AL is nice, but do ya need adjustable rev limitor? Id jus get the 6A if it were me, its a lil cheaper.

Nope, no need for a new dist. unless yours is crap. MSD makes a few wiring harness adapters for the different HEI setups. http://www.msdignition.com/install_access_3.htm

I have a MSD 6AL and a Summit HEI firing my 388. The 6AL comes with the wiring for your stock HEI. You will remove your module and use the supplied harness to connect it to the box. If your stock dizzy is in good shape, then use it.
Having that rev limiter is a necessity in the mud and snow.

Well, I just ordered a new MSD street fire dizzy. MSD claims that it is their value added model.
