Anyone swapped in a '80's style A/C compressor into a earlier style truck? I want to do this before hot weather.

Are you talking about the short, squatty unit? I have one of those in my '84 that has crapped out on me several times. I was told by an A/C guy that they tend to be noisy and unreliable. Anybody else have experience with these?

Yeah, the newer ones. They're a lot lighter and smaller!
Anybody switched to the newer style?

I did it, but the new compressor and brackets came with the '87 Corvette engine that I also installed... :cool1:

I've got a '86 and a '83 I can caniblize from. Is it a big PITA?

I bought my engine as a complete take out, with all accessories still installed. Even the serp belt was still in place. Just yanked out the old engine and dropped in the new one. It will require custom hoses. :(
