Upgraded Alt ???

I added the powermaster high output alt and was surfing around and found this from an old post from CK5 back in the day..

The only bad thing that i have found is the charging circuit. Painless runs everything through one 50 amp maxi fuse. This is ok till you add a winch or powermaster alternator. I was blowing fuse left and right. I added a extra line from the back of the alt. to the + side of the battery and this fixed the problem with no bad effects to the painless harness.


Is this true and will it hurt anything to the new alt..BTW I did toast a in line fuse after only a few min and the alt was very hot to the touch..and I went from a 3 wire to the 1 wire alt (140 amp)

I want to take this thing out..

I'd be concerned about that bein waterproof. I dont know how well that would work under the hood. Also looks like that one holds AGU fuses. I'd find one that holds maxi type fuses.
