Been gone quite a while. Its good to see CK5 again!

With that said, I've got a question about tires.

I currently have 35" MTR's and have been happy with them. But now I don't use the truck on the street much and am looking to get some bigger/more aggressive meats.

I use the truck mainly for woods (desert actually) cruising where the rocks can be mean. Not a whole lot of mud. Lots of soft sand during the summer months. I'd like a tire than can float on the sand and occasionally deep snow during the winter.

Not sure if my sig is still on this board, but its a 86 longbed with one ton running gear, 6" lift, and a 454. I'm looking at something in the 37-38" range.

Street use consists of an occasional 40 mile drive to the lake during the summer weekends. Other than that I might drive a mile or two to the store or the trailhead. I probably put about 2k miles a year on the truck.

I'm pretty torn between bias and radials. I'm thinking radials for floating on the sand and snow, but bias for the strength and the fact that its my second truck, so it doesn't need to be super smooth on the highway.

Currently I'm considering 37-14 R16 IROK's, 38" Toyo MT's, maybe a 37 or 38" bogger as well.

I'm leaning towards the Toyo's because I really don't think they'll give anything up to the interco's in the sand, deep snow, and trails, but they do ride nicely and last a long time.

Also, how do Mickey Thompson Bias Belted compare to these tires? I found a set new of 36x14.50R16.5 on steel wheels (new) for only $750 locally. My only concern is the 16.5 rims. But that's another story....

Thanks for reading my longwinded post! What do you guys think?

You can't beat the toughness of a bias tire for offroad use. I just switched to a bias Maxxis Creepy Crawler from MTR's and it is nice now rockcrawling because I can air down farther and not have to worry as much about cutting sidewalls.
