I need some quick help guys. I'm leaving in 2 hours to go to my g/f's parents up in the pocanos. Its a 2-1/2hr drive and I plan to do some trails while I'm there.

The question is I have a little bit of play in my steering. I had though that perhaps a TRE on my crossover didnt seat properly in the taper but everything is perfect up front. My dad was wiggling the wheel and my play is in the steering shaft. Not at the u joints, not at the clamps but in the slip. The 4 spline rounded saftey slip incase you get in an accident. It seems like without the plastic in there its wearing out rather quick.

I was wondering can I throw a few quick beads where the two slip pieces meet? I mean I cant really think of any reason why not other than the whole crash saftey aspect that it was put there for.

What do you guys think? T-minus 1:45mins til I need to leave :doah:

It's real quick to swap out the Heep steering shaft isn't it?

Yeah I dont have anything to go in its place. I wound up drilling two 3/16ths holes in it and running two bolts and nuts to tighten it up. It made a huge difference. Idk if I'm gonna weld it or not yet or just step it up to some larger hardware I can really crunch it together with.

If you leave the small hardware in place, they will sheer in a collision. Then you still have your safety.
