hey everyone.
I'm in the process of putting my 4" lift in, i have the front all done and just finished tearing apart the back, I was putting the rear springs in and put the end with the double wrap to the front of the truck, (stock shackle did not seem to fit it) is that right? i put the shackles on the back with the open end towards the front of the truck and bolted everything up.
When i was looking at it (my blocks are tapered) it looked like it would be pointing the diff down, i turned one block and it still looked that way.
the truck is sitting with the springs just hanging and the shackles pulled forward so to me it seems like it will point the pinion down even further once they have weight on them.
does this sound right and i'm just looking at it the wrong way? or did i mess up some where along the way.
i am putting a 14bsf in but don't have it by the truck to check it.
it's a used 4" kit with add-a-leaf and block for the back, unsure of the brand, guy i got it from thought rancho.
trucks a 77 jimmy, th350 np203
*also the way the blocks came attached to the spring (bolt threw) the long side was to the front of the truck with the double wrap in the front hanger.

thanks for anyhelp.

okay i think i may have my shackles on backwards, any one wanna look at there stock ones and see if the opeing is facing the front of the truck or the rear?

I've got DEAVER springs with a wrap to the front hanger...........I don't understand your block problem, you say a bolt goes all the way through the leafs and the block?

yeah i'm pretty sure the wrapped eye go's to the front hanger and the block has the spring center bolt that go's threw it.
i did not pay much attention to the shackles before they were removed, i left to get a pizza to feed buddy that was helping me and came back and both spring and shackles were apart laying on the ground.
I'm trying to get to my trailer (it's what i'mpulling the axle from) but it's sitting in a locked compound right now.

could anyone with stock shackle set up take a look at theres for me?

and doe's anyone know if on a 14bsf are the spring perches and pinion pretty much parallel or is there lot's of difference. IE: when the perches are parallel to the ground is the pinion pointed way up??

thank you
eric

When the axle is in, the pinion should be parallel to the output shaft of the T-case. (unless you will run a CV shaft, then it should point right at the T-case.)
