urgent offtopic question-toyota pickup

I have a 88 toyota xtracab and was wondering if it would be okay to transport a 10bolt rear axle from a blazer in the bed, for 1.5 hours to deliver it. I'm getting paid 100 bucks to do it, and the other truck we have isn't highway worthy.

Will it just sag or what will happen??
 
shouldnt be a problem, i used to drag engines and such around in my 91. just sag a little.

should weigh less than a th350, a 350 and an engine crane right? then you should be ok.

If any truck couldn't haul a rear end then it wouldn't be a truck!I used to haul way more than that with my old 94,little sag but no big deal.
 
If your Toyota can't move a 10 bolt, I'm gonna have an aweful time turning mine into a 40" bogger-shod trail machine. :D
 
Okay it's snowy and icy up here and the toyota has a light weight rear. We have sand bags now, but I will take them out for the axle. Should I bring them with me in the cab, or should I be okay and not need traction?

It's going to be hard to get in there with the canopy though:eek1:

Okay cool, I will use them to prevent the axle from sliding and scratching the paint.

I'll take a picture later, there isn't too much of a front bumper-let alone a place to hang the bags...

Steve--your Toyota could haul 4or more 10 bolts all day long with no trouble a all!..my friend had a 2wd Toyota truck like yours..he'd load the bed with sand over the wheelwells,and add 50+ cement blocks,a wheelbarrow,a few bags of mortar,and trowels and other masons tools,and go 70+ mph to jobs 50 or more miles away..I thought sure he'd kill the truck or break springs (or the rusty frame!)..but he's still using it,and its been 5 years now...:eek1: ..

Another guy I know uses one to deliver parts from a local salvage yard..the owners motto is "if it fits in the bed-it will carry it!"..I saw him loading a 6.9 Ford truck diesel motor in the bed last week!..it sagged,and he said it was a bit scary,but drove ok ..not as bad as the day he delivered 2 SB chevy motors and 700R4 trannies,and a big manual truck tranny from a F-600 Ford box truck!..he had to use all the "backroads" on that trip!....

One 10 bolt is like having a fat girlfriend riding shotgun with you!..you probably wont even know its in the bed!..I'd leave the sand in too,you might need the weight if you hit snow on your way back..:crazy:
 
just to boost your confidence i just got done bringing home a 14 bolt rear and a 10 bolt front in the back of a 89 toyota extended cab on a 40 minute drive, no problems at all
