what front axle would an 85 f-250 diesel have on it??? can pick it up cheap.

I think they come with a Dana 50 twin traction beam front suspension.

an 85? i read somewhere that some f250's 4x4s cam with d60's. althought the twin beam was a common find. im so confused now.

WHY are u waisting your time on a FORD?.......just curious.
it's not the ford... its the friggin axles i want. if it has a 9 inch rear like i think it does and a d60 i will have saved a couple thousand.:wink1:

It has neither, a 9" is a 1/2ton rear end. It's going to be a 10" something Sterling rear and a TTB front axle that has a Dana 44 differential. It's all basically not worth your time, if you are wanting a 9" and/or a real 60.

yeah. i don't know why i put the 9" down. So which fords did have 60's in them?

An F250 won't have a 9" rearend. It will have either a D60 or a Sterling. I'm not sure what year Ford went to the Sterling rearend. Ford never used their 9" axle in anything heavier than a 1/2 ton.

If you want disc brakes, you need a 1 ton front end. Ford used D60 front axles under some 3/4 tons, back in the 60s. Maybe you could special order a D60 after that, but I haven't seen one under a 3/4 ton past 69 model.

Man I got a buddy up hear that would kill for a couple ford 9"ers.

But again, I live in Canada, too far away. He has a couple of camaros he wants to put them under.

I don't know he just doesn't go with the 12 bolts??

C-clips are a bad thing, and all the eliminator kits leak out the axle tubes. Just pull a rearend out of a mid 70s 1/2 ton Ford pickup-there's your 9 inch.

Any Ford F350, from sometime in the 70's up until the late 90's, and again from 2002ish to current.

Ford had this bright idea to use an oddball D50 front in the early Stupiduties, that would be the '60 gap.
