Urgent truck help! (how hood mounts)

Not a completely retarted question, i have a line on 2cabs for my trazer, 1 is a 77 and one is an 85. The seller is sayin that he thinks the hoods mount differently...

Can anyone confirm? From my 84 and hte 77 i had i cant remember if there was a difference.

If there is, are they compatible? like would it just be basic fabwork to get it to work?

Theyre differnet. So are the fenders. Even if you made it work it wouldnt line up right with the fender since the newer hoods go lower in the front for more "aerodynamics"
 
Def way different, the 73 style has the cowl built into the hood, and uses those huge supports with springs, the newer style has the cowl seperate, completely different body lines, ect.
 
****. guess im going to have to run an 85 style body. damnit. i Knew hte body lines were different, i just figured that if i swap on my 77doors, that all would be good.

Hmm i guess im goin to have to look at the 77cab and decide if its worth my time or not.
 
Thats what im thinkin, except now ihave to buy the clip too...argh! i already have a 77clip, maybe i should just keep waiting.

so by waht your saying is if i have the front clip (i do) then that will bolt onto the 85 cab?

Then waht about the hood?
 
You can use the entire 73 style front clip on the 85 cab, you just need all the front clip parts, fenders, hood, core support, ect. and I believe you might have to mod something alittle, but i'm sure its not too hard. Search a little, i'm sure you'll find something.
 
Oh, i gotcha i got all that. Ill need a hood though but there is one out in my yards that is pretty solid.

I thought originally that yall were saying that 77 clip wouldnt bolt onto the 85cab.

IIRC there is some a modification needed to make the hood hinge mount on the '85 cab. Most of the posts I've found while searching just cover going from the older cabs to the '89-'91 setup. It is doable though.
