I found a used warn winch for $60 bucks on craigslist is it a good deal? Says it just needs a starter and that it's an older 9000lb model.

I just did the same thing. A 10k Dayton(Superwinch). He says all it needs in selonoids. They are 400+ dollars.

I think I will just buy a new winch.

Good luck!

I would buy any winch for 60.00 because even if you didn't use it you could sell pieces and make your money back or even resell it whole and recover your money.

Have you priced winches these days? They aren't cheap anymore, not that they ever were but they have about doubled in price over the last 10 years.

If it uses the standard remote mount solenoid pack (4 solenoids) then those are nothing more than a continous duty solenoid and they are cheap.

Heck, if you can find a 10K winch in otherwise good shape for less than $100, I would grab it.
Like 4X4HIGH said, solenoids are cheap, or, for that price, you could always pick up a couple of these........:haha:

Its a dayton winch. Rebranded from superwinch to grainger. It needs the selonoids and remote. Grainger quoted me 407 dollars. I think its a box, two selonoids a few wires and the remote. Should I do it?

Is it $407 for the winch or for the solenoids?

If its that much for the winch, I would look around some.
I don't know whats out there anymore, but that sounds high for a used 10K that needs work.
My hydraulic PTO is still doing fine, so I'm not in the market right now.

I would hate to build a bumper for this winch and have to rebuild the bumper because it isn't good or strong or whatever. What say you?

I just clicked your link to the winch and an 8K lb. winch isn't nearly enough for a burb. I would stop at this point and wait for a larger winch to come along. The general rule is a winch that is rated at 1 1/2 times the vehicle weight. I would be looking for a 12K lb winch if I were you.

I have a friend actually who used to have a Ramcharger and it got totalled and he keot the rig and stripped it and it had a 12K Warn winch and lately he has been unloading all the parts he stripped since his mom sold her house. If you're interested I could call him tomorrow and see if he wants to sell it and for how much.
