ChrisP and I are stuck in Mesquite NV due to a mud slide on I-15 near Riverside Rd. We are only 6 hours from home. Only alternatives take us back into St. George UT, north across Grand Canyon, around east side, and down through Flagstaff. OR, up through Salt Lake City, over to Sacramento and down.

Not sure which to do and no info as to how long the clean up will be :(

Go wheel more

We are about the same distance from Moab as it is to home. 400 miles either way if the roads were open. I can try asking if they'll let us rump around in the mud lol, or winch ourselves across.

Problem is, we both rented trailers that are due back tomorrow morning. I rented a truck also :( Luckily work is flexible to a degree

And to make things worse, all of Mesquite is without power, even the casino where we're parked. We need drinks.

Go back to St George, take hwy 18 north to hwy 56, west to 93 in Caliente, south to I-15 just outside of Vegas. Much shorter than sticking to the interstates.:waytogo:

We've been trying to get road conditions, but with the whole city blacked out internet is almost non existent

Yes you need to get out through caleinte. Nice drive, it's a bit curvy but not bad.

Damn road is wash completely out and they've stopped north bound traffic too. Some cars got washed away :(

Worried the 18/56/93 is going to be washed out also. It's through the same desert as everything else is. If we commit to it and find it blocked 200-500 miles in, we're boned. It's that or Sacramento or flagstaff. For now, we are just resting in the dark.

Might make a PB&J sandwich

Just reading that the 93 out of Caliente and the 168 are both closed. That would be a dead end. I think Chris is going up into Sac area from StGeorge. I think I'm gunna eat and stay at a hotel for the night. I'm so damn tired.

I'm very curious how bad the flagstaff area is and the 40 going into CA.

If you guys come through Sacramento and need anything let me know :waytogo:

Well I got home about 10:15 this morning. When the rain slowed a bit they opened the 93, still was a bit muddy, but it went okay.
It was almost 300 miles from Mesquite to Vegas. Should have been 50 or so. Took a half hour nap along the way, was just trying to push through before more rain moved in.

You should have loaded the tow rigs on the trailers and plowed through towing with the wheeling rigs. I would have paid to see that.

Glad you made it home.
