Hi! It's somebody who can help me?! In the '50's-'60's years, in Romania, was produced a light/medium truck - SR 131/132 Carpati, SR 113/114 Bucegi... - wich was powered by a light V8 gas engine - 344kg - manufactured in Romania under licence. That engine licence it was from Ford - official version; but on the official site of manufacturer is not specified wich type of Ford engine was... The engine could be made earlier, before '50's...
Half of this engine - 4 in-line - was use on the first ARO models - M 59, M 461...

If somebody know something about this engine, can tell me what type of Ford engine it was?! The romanian version have code name SR-211 and have this specifications: V8 97mm x 85mm 5025ccm 140HP 32daN.

I put some pictures here; maybe someone recognize it... The cover of cylinder heads is from M-207 - ARO engine, but the engine from this pictures is SR-211, mounted on a M 461-C chassis, by a czech guy!

Thank you, for your understanding!

That engine looks like a 292 or 312 which was from the vintage you say. Get a casting number off the head and block and i can check it out for you. The casting number on the head is found on the corner near the intake manifold side. If it is a ECZ then the heads are 312.

The "Y" Blocks came in 4 displacements, that I know of;

239, 272, 292, and 312 cubic inches.

That darn sure looks like a "Y" block to me. Considering the horsepower rating, I'm guessing its a 272 cubic inch.

Hmm. Doing the math with a bore of 97mm and a stroke of 85mm I get a displacement of 306.6 cid or 5025 cc. :dunno:

The bore and stroke of a 292 is 3.75 X 3.3 inches. Converted to mm it is 95 X 84. It is possible that it is a 292 that has been bored enough to clean some ring ridge out of it.

Maybe... But all SR-211 engines manufactured in RO, have bore x stroke 97 x 85 and 5025 ccm! Thats was the manufacturer specifications...

But, bore could was modified by the manufacturer... I don't know!!! Almost no informations about origin, for this engine... :confused:

Maybe it is a European only 305 Y-block?
