So I was scavenging around the forums today looking to source some ideas of where to look for this sudden nasty oil leak I got. Crawled under the truck and pow! Right there, exactly were I didn't want a nasty leak, the intake..:doah:
I cant just go in and fix the leak and call it good. I wanna know why all of a sudden. Enter the gurus

A couple symptoms I noticed leading to the nasty leak. 1, It sat for a better part of 3 weeks on a decent incline, hardly a drop of oil. 2, after paint n stuff, I drove it around to stretch the legs a bit. Not long, maybe 3 miles up to 50mph, 3 times in the following weeks. I started to notice erratic oil pressures between 30-50ish PSI. Never noticed it before. 3, Just the last couple drives, It had returned to normal with exception of the oil leak, it remains the same. 4, I suspect the " normal 30ish PSI came from the fact that I just found the PCV line "blown off" or some how disconnected if you will..

Exhibit A:

I would assume an issue of sort between the PCV and TB, and or the PCV, which pulled and seems fine, or, thinking why would crank case pressure be erratic like this?... Flame on!

Question 2 please; Looking for oil leak I found this: What appear to be vac lines, brittle and disconnected at two points. To what? I am hoping some one may know.

Don't know if this is useful, but it shifts hard in and out of first gear only, will chirp tires and a medium pedal. I fiddled with TV adjustment and arrived at the nest shift sequence I could per research, (previous post)

And just for props to U Pol Raptor liner. This S**ts awesome! :waytogo: Also why my truck was down for 3 weeks

Thanks FELLAS!

My buddy had a blown head gasket that was leaking compression into the intake valley blowing out oil from the intake and excessive blowby out the valve cover breather. My other guess is just plain old blowby around your rings, how old is the motor you should do a compression test if there all ok then rule out head gasket and rings. And I think that vaccuum line is your modulator on the trans thatll make for hard shifts.

Thanks for the reply ,

If you have any more info on this, particularly, were they hook up to I,d be very grateful. I would see about a search on that in the meantime. I just didn't know were to start other than this post. Would my yellow arrow in the pic be said "modulator"?

I found the oil leak tho. Ill get that fixed up one weekend and that should hold me till the diesel swap.

Thanks again!

Yep that looks like the modulator kinda a rough pic tho vaccuum controls the shift points.

Pretty sure IIRC the 700R4 does not have a modulator valve, the TV cable is what controls shifts not a modulator valve.

that is correct 4x4high :waytogo:

and make sure the 700r4 tv cable is adjusted correct or you WILL FRY the tranny fast. its NOT a kick down cable like a th350 .

In the first picture it appears to say "Whipple" on what may be a SUPERCHARGER!

Is that beast supercharged? If not then I would suspect that the oil pressure sender has failed at the back of the intake and that is your leak and the erratic pressure readings on the gauge.

If it is supercharged, then you may have a motor that is worn out with too much "blowby" since it has pushed the pcv out and has found a weak gasket on the intake and has pushed it out.
