The hose on my MAP sensor is cracked at the sensor connetion, bad enough I can see into into the hose, I imagine this messes with the vacuum signal?? (why it probably doesn't stay running at start up if I don't give it some gas)

Problem is the vacuum nipple on the MAp sensor and the the vacuum nipple on the front of the throttle body where it connects are TWO DIFFERENT SIZES!! So I cannot just go buy a length of one-size vacuum hose and connect 'em up cuz the size that fits snuggly on the throttle body nipple won't slide over the MAP sensor connect (why it is split right now).

From the factory it was a nice custom hard-plastic vacuum hose with two different sized rubber ends on it, how does one fabricate a new one of those? I still have the factory hose, but it won't work on my rebuilt throttle body cuz the nipple location is different and it is pre-bent of hard plastic.

Got a Volvo car dealer near you? Go there and get a length of part number 976734. This is a real good, thick wall, rubber vacuum line. It won't compress very easy under vacuum and should connect your MAP sensor port to the port in the t-body (constant vacuum). Just do like the porn stars do and use a little spit lube and force it in, err on, to the larger vacuum port. Should last you for years.

Can we use this Volvo stuff to replace ALL of the vacuum lines or do we need different diameters? I think I have a similar truck to Big6ft6.....89' k5.

You should be able to get a Vaccum line adapter from an auto parts store. One size in and another size out, just for this sort of scenario.

Your problem is that the MAP sensor vacuum hose is suppose to coonect to the single nipple on the BACK of the throttle body.

Yep, I screwed up it is the hose for the EGR controller that takes vacuum from the front of the TBI that I'm having trouble with. I'll check for the vacuum adapters. I also need this to connect my vacuum canister. The "nipple" on top of the vacuum cannister is tiny, but the port I think it goes to coming off the same T as the tranny modulator, is HUGE!

You can use it on the fittings it will fit on, but it's pricey, almost $20 for 1 meter (approx 3') of it. I would only deem it necessary for vacuum lines like the one to the MAP where enough vacuum could suck cheapo hose closed and effect the signal. It's a good replacement if the original plastic hard line is damaged or whatever. Other than that, normal vacuum line will suffice for the rest of the vehicle.

and as Kert mentioned, you can usually find vacuum adapters in the "HELP" rack at the autoparts store if necessary...

I don't think you're catching on. Get some vacuum hose in each of the diameters you need (you must already have one of them...). Connect them together somewhere in the middle with one of those Male-Male adapters that has two different sizes on it. Can't be more than a few $ at the nearest parts store and 5 minutes work.

OR if you have a leftover rubber adapter from the original setup - you shove a short piece of hard line in one end and slide regular vacuum hose over the remaining end of the hardline.
