vacuum problem

Ok so everyone knows that your suppose to hook the vacuum advance to the passenger side of the carb on a 1406 edelbrock carb. But what if that port is not pulling any vacuum what so ever????? what would cause this problem?????

Thought the dizzy port was on the driver's side... but anyhoo, IIRC, you want the dizzy on a port that does NOT provide vacuum at idle, but does bring some on as you bang the throttle.

Just wrote a huge post and accidentally erased it trying to post a link
1406 pass. vac. port is above throttle plates and will only have vac. above idle. Drivers side is manifold vac. and will have a signal all the time. The ported side is to comply with emmissions. Mine sounds and drives 100% better on manifold(drivers) port. Dont be an idiot and trace a vac. leak forever only to discover it was the advance can I was disconnecting to test vac. Vac. guage on was great, plug everything back in and it ran like junk. You will find an entire(subjective) explanation on this link. Hope this helps and if you have any Q's, PM or post up. Im not a mechanic, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn last night. I just rebuilt my 1406.
