I have these units from a 76 3/4 ton (10 spline). No bellhousing. Assuming they are in working order (t-fer case needs a reseal), what do you think they are worth? I couldn't find much on CL to compare to. I bought a rolling frame for the axles and they were on it.

I am not attempting to sell it in this forum, just looking for possible values for when I do decide to sell.

Thanks

not sure how much help ill be but, when i was looking for an sm465 around me i couldnt find just the trans (no bellhousing, no adapter, no t/c) for less than 400.. that being said, i picked up a trans, bellhousing, pedals, master, slave and flywheel for 160 in perfect shape in Illinois.

I picked up a 32 spline 465/205 from a 89 K30 for $300.00. I recently traded a 10 spline 465/205 + $400.00 for a 203/205 doubler. Hope that helps.

I see a lot of 465/205 combos on craigslist here for $400-$600.

However, I paid $100 for my 465/208 with hydro bell, slave, master, two good clutches, new throwout bearing, new pilot bearing and a flywheel. I got a 465/205 for free and I know where I can get two complete 3/4 ton 4x4s with 465/205 combos for $500 each so I would never pay more than a couple hundred for just the tranny/t-case.

But I would say that Im in the minority. Most people I know will buy the tranny/t-case for $500 before the truck just because they dont want to mess with it.

So to sum this all up if you are willing to sit on it for a while you could probably find someone to buy in the $400+ range otherwise I would say not more than $200.

Prices are rising in local junkyards,as these get scarcer....the yard I dealt with most used to sell diffs for 75-150 bucks, and most trannies for 20-300 bucks for older vehicles--now they have a set price --300 bucks for "any gearbox"...............................................................anything with gears inside!..other yards get much more!...IF they have anything--trying to find parts for anything older than 1995 here is getting tough...your best sources are on CL ,guys like us are the only ones who keep any of these old parts now pretty much...

Most yards around here charge $400 for an np208

My dad called around looking for a dana 44 inner shaft, just the shaft was $150.

I dont even check with junkyards anymore, I can usually find a complete truck for what they are asking for the parts I need. My brother in law has a junkyard behind his house. When we find a cheap truck we can afford we add to the pile:waytogo:

I noticed the jy prices too. Mine used to do half off Wednesday's, I miss that. These parts aren't too readily available on CL here in AZ. I think I will shoot for $450

That's crazy :eek1:!!! There are 4 yards around here that are owned by the same company, they have set , published pricing on everything, any t case is $65, trannies are $100 :D, some things can get pricy as they don't do "package deals", if you want a door, you also pay for the handles ,switches, panel etc.

To the op, I sold a 32spline 465 /208 combo for $300 a while ago, and generally see 205's going for $250 alone.

Thats nice, if the yards around here charged $65 a t-case and $100 for trannies I would go buy them and re-sell them. Of course I guess I would have to buy them all or nobody would want the ones I had.

Sucks about the package pricing though. Here a door is a door, $100 and whats on it is on it, glass, door handle, door panel, mirror, etc.

I gave 180 for my sm465/205 combo 3 or 4 years ago and that seemed to be about the going rate in northern idaho...
