I am looking at a 1983 1/2 ton short bed single cab truck 4x4, 350, sm465, np205, with pop up Four Wheel Camper on it. It has zero rust, no dents or dings, been garage kept its whole life. No weird aftermarket stuff. Completely stock as I can tell. The guy wants $12,000 for the truck and camper. Camper is in amazing shape too. This is probably one of the nicest and cleanest stock trucks I have seen in a long time. Does $12,000 seem like a good deal? Pics coming soon!

An 83 1/2 ton would not have a 205 transfer case stock. It would have been a 208. Either way sounds like a good deal to me.
Okay that is interesting. He did say it is a camper special custom order truck designed to have the Four Wheel camper on it. The camper has been attached to the truck it’s whole life quote.

I don't remember what year gm went away from the 205, but, that is kind of strange. Could have been swapped in. But,that would have required some modification.

IF it is in pristine condition, well maintained, and ready to go anywhere, $12K sounds like a very good deal and an investment. If it is just an old truck with a good body but everything else is worn out and needing a full restoration, it is way too high. Prices have come down since the peak 2 years ago and no one is spending cash on toys at the moment unless it is a good deal or necessary (likely due to high interest rates on their credit cards killing free cash).

1980 was the last year for the 10 spline SM465/NP205 in a half ton and would have had a slip yoke. After that, only a K30 had an NP205 and they were switched to 32 spline input in 1985. However, it is not hard to swap one in with factory parts and make no modifications that are noticeable.

Ok I was wrong. It is a 1977 and it is in far better shape then I thought. The frame looks pristine. It is a np205 as well. It has some cool homemade customization to it. The camper does lift up, but I didn’t have time to inspect it too much because I was technically still working.

Damn it! The wife just said no…

If I could drop 12K on another square right now I’d buy it and stop by your place and give you the camper for free.
That’s really clean for a 77 model that’s not been redone - if it fits your needs I say get it with no worries about it being a bad investment.

I'm a little disappointed seeing the images.... I expected a showroom garage queen ..

The aftermarket gas tank in the left side makes me cry....

Seeing it really deserves a new complete paint job, I negotiate hard or walk....

The paint damage / clean up will run 6 - 10k.

Wish it was a pristine Silverado

Ya factory tach-very nice. I’ve had 2 - 77 & both were ok , but that interior is very nice, I agree that spare fuel tank nozzle looks bad compared to rest of truck. Ya when you said pristine, I pictured a much Nicer body & motor too. I personaly wouldn’t pay 12k..
