Bought these bada$$ valve covers. But they're too damn tall. They won't clear the firewall.

Seems like the only options for BBC valve covers are standard and tall. I don't hear the big roller rockers I put in hitting with my old ones, but I'd like a bit more clearance.

Has anyone around here run valve cover spacers (like these LINK)? Pros / cons? Thoughts?

I used valve cover spacers in my blazer temporarily till I could get a set of valve covers built for the caddy motor.

Down side is the obvious twice as much surface to potentially leak from.

Pros, clearance if you need it.

It was a temporary solution at best for me. Two sets of valve cover gaskets sucks.

that's a shame, those tall ones look awesome...

Those covers do look great. I'd modify the firewall if it's not too big a clearance issue. I was under the impression that the older Blazers generally needed firewall modification to fit a BBC anyway.

I put them on mine, AJ. You get a nice sticker for the beer fridge, too. :pimp:

I know Paul! Got a great deal on them too.

Depending on where the interference is, mod the firewall.

Bfh works good to make room. I had to clearance mine put hei in.

Not gonna happen at this point guys. Already had the firewall opened up and cleaned to fix the PO's hammer work. Just apparently not enough to clear tall covers.

PO's work.

"Modded" by my body guy to here after the engine fire and then shot gloss black.

Thanks Mike!

Add a body lift, or move the entire drivetrain forward, or get serious about adding REAL clearance to the firewall.... :)

There's a reason why I stretched that area and added 4" to that firewall "pocket" area of the MAW Build...
