I was wondering what you guys run on your rims. flexible rubber or hard mount steel or aluminum valve stems? my new steel wheels are here and i need to buy some stems but witch are better for off road abuse?

Rubber is best, they'll give before breaking whereas a metal one will break if it gets hit.

IMO - I went with the rubber valve stems. I didn't want to risk steel valve stems getting damaged and losing air off road.

ive had a rubber one tear completely off on me last offroading trip. going down one of those really tight trails where the tires rub the wall.

BUT just buy a few extra valve stems and keep them with you. they are like 99cents. a few guys had them but my rims took the huge 1/2 inch hole stems. so i keep 3 with me now.

what all the hardcore guys were telling me to do was to weld in the stock valve stem hole. made a hole farther inside the rim and use metal valve stems. but heck with all that. much easier just carry extra stems.

thanks guys i have rubber ones so i can mount my tires today and maybe get the truck going today thanks for your help

Mine has real short metal one that screw in.There a good 2" at least from the edge.
Since I dont go on real tight trail of rock crawl It doesnt matter to me....Sooo I dont know why I answered this , bored I guess.

I always use rubber valve stems. I always keep a couple extras in the tool box in case I tear one off on the trail.
