Are they wider than truck 10bolts? Do they use the same truck gears? Could I swap my gears/diff over to a van axle if it is wider?

yes wider and yes same diff and carrier units and design, and same as car too, all 8.5" 10 bolt, and in fornt of K10 and K20 trucks too, 8.5" gm corp is 8.5" gm corp except for a few certain uncommon 60s 70s ones that had bearings pressed to axle shafts, in bigger cars certain models years called the B&O type axle
