VegasFrankentruck
Newbie
I have been researching here on the forums for a few days about the mystery Transfer Case I have in Frankentruck and thanks to all of you here I was able to determine my truck has the NP203 that has not been converted. This truck was my brothers ( He owned it for about 14 days) before he passed we brought the truck down here and I had plans to tear the truck down and rebuild it and make it a wild machine... Once I started digging into it I found it is truly a frankentruck, it has a cut long bed frame, K5 axles, a 64GMC Cab, 69-72 Bed and so so much more that was just pieced together... So my plans took a turn and I decided to pull all the electrical and rewire the truck with Painless and did some body work to fill all the trim holes on the truck, moved the tank to the rear cleaned up the interior and slapped a tropical glitz metal flake paint job on it in the garage.
I have been driving it around essentially how it was when I received it with the transfer case shifted all the way back to the seat and seemingly had no issues. Last weekend a family member with a Bronco asked if I wanted to take the trail out to pioneer saloon here in Vegas and I said sure, but I'm taking Frankentruck. Well, the trail proved to be more than expected so it was time to engage 4wd and that is when things got interesting, I had no idea what transfer case was in the truck but when I got the truck I did notice it has warn locking hubs up front. So I hopped out and locked the hubs and boom 4wd was rockin. That led me to doing some research since I thought all along it was running in 2Hi (Total assumption on my part) When i tried shifting the transfer case prior to this trip the truck would not move at all. But after my research here I have realized it is indeed the NP203 that has not been converted, So yesterday I tested it out and locked the hubs and shifted it up to what I now know is 4hi and not 4HL and what a difference it has made. I just wanted to say thank you for all of you that share your knowledge here and I look forward to sticking around.
