Don't know which of our beloved vendors sells these, but I'll give you the first shot at my business :deal:

If nobody here is a reseller, I'll take suggestions for who is (there are guys on Pirate4x4 that sell them, IIRC).

Need the 5.44:1 gearset version
Need a TH400 adapter

Respond via PM or email if you're too shy to do it here.... :wink1:

Greg,

have you looked @ the STak?

Marv

Hey Marv! Yeah I looked at STaK.....here's my analysis, check my work! :wink1:

The 5.44:1 gear (either STaK or Atlas4) gives me just about perfect 110:1 ratio for my tire size. However, if I want a second gear for just bombing around in 4WD, the STaK gear of 3.05 seems a bit too deep... With the Atlas, I can choose a 2.72 (or) 2.00 for those types of moments. It just seems more flexible and less likely to put me in a situation where I feel like I'm "overgeared" for running on simpler offroad stuff....

Plus, I think the STaK is going to come in at a higher price (unless you have a special "Greg's My Favorite Moderator" price in mind :D ), so getting the extra gear choices of the Atlas is also cheaper for me.

I may be off in my logic somehow, but that's how I'm seeing it currently.

Looks like you considered all the facts....

I just installed a STak in my brother's TJ. (Can see shift levers :D)

He had a similar request because he said that his old low range (2.72 in a NP231) was too low for sand dunes yet too high for rocks. So we went w/ the optional gear ranges of 2.4 and 4.3.

I don't think you can get the 2.4 w/ the 5.4....

Oh... and the STaK is more $$.... We paid $3100 for this one. It's a fine piece tho... and so far delivers all we wanted! :waytogo:

If you're not "weight" concious, I'd say go w/ the 203/LoMax205. If you are on a diet, looks like Atlas is king.

Marv,

I just sold my WMS 3.1:1 203 case.... the ratios with a 205 would have been bitchin' but I don't have the right Doubler kit (I've got the Ford-side drop) so I'd be spending more money to finish gathering the parts. The simplicity of pulling out my stock 205 and dropping in an Atlas4 are pretty appealing, as well as the shorter overall length (nicer for the rear DS).

Yep its the same as a /d300 bolt pattern.

Have you considered going to a manual valve body in the Th400?? I to wanted more then LOW LOW or HIGH HIGH so I put one in mine. LOW LOW is great for slow technical crawling but if I need to bump up something or get some wheelspeed I can kick the tranny in 2nd, keep the t-case in LOW and its perfect. If I need even more wheel speed I can kick it in 3rd:D

Would you take a manual valve body auto over a manual? Off on a tangent of sorts. I am looking at an NV4500 but it can be an expensive swap I have also toyed with the idea of a reverse manual 700R4 with a staK 3 speed behind that.

I cant help with vendors on here either sorry:o

I appologize for the noob like hijack:D

Interesting...

So do you still get the "stall effect" by locking the tranny in 2nd gear (and keeping the RPMs low)???

If so, that creates a 2.96:1 gear (TH400 2nd Gear of 1.48:1 X stall effect)...interestingly, that would allow me to use the Atlas4 with the deeper gearset (10.34:1) and get a crawl ratio of 210:1 (arguably useless) and in 2nd Gear the ratio would be 125:1.

Time to go build a new crawl table, whilst I wait for your answer on the "stall effect" in 2nd Gear.

You have NO idea....

ExcelCAD would not even exist had it not been for my obsession with that cute little Microsoft application....
