So usually I rip out all ducting minus the defroster venting. Usually by 30 years or so most of it just leaks out the seems and not much gets to where it needs to go, and I don't care about anything but the defroster.

So sometime I plan on removing the box with the heater core, and make block off plates for all the openings minus the defroster port. Especially since the vacuum operated controls are junk, right now the dampner isn't closing the door all the way so a lot of the air is shooting out the bottom.

Has anyone made their own ducting? I'm sure I can find vendors online to buy something that'll sorta work. But I want something that secures the defroster ducting to that box better as there's a big gap now, and that adjusting slot doesn't work well, since pulling it down all the way pulls it away from the top where it mounts to the dash, and each of the vents up there have one side of the vent that's broken anyway.

Thinking pvc, but really the box is rectangular where it connects, and the top vents are those thin wide rectangles as well. Guess I could buy new vents for the top, and just use duct tape. But that's kinda crappy.

Really even then I don't need that huge box, just something to hold the heater core, and vent to the defroster. And open/close the door for hot/cold. I don't have AC (anymore) but it is an AC truck.
