Anyone have a better material to use to replace this rubber. This is the second rubber washer that has failed. I frequently use this window, and it gets sloppy fast.
What would be a better material?

Thanks guys

i used lmc ones and did the same thing. If you find something let me know please

Nylon is pretty common for "plastic" nuts bolts and washers. If you find a thin one for sure use that, otherwise might need to spend some time with the sandpaper.

Wonder if the thin, flexible white plastic cutting boards would work? Not sure what material it is, but relatively thin to start with.

I think it’s either HMPE or UHMWPE, the same stuff that some people use between leaf springs. You can get it at McMasterCarr in various thicknesses and sizes. It is very slippery though.

It shouldn’t be too difficult to make one out of some kind of rubber sheet or gasket material.

If I remember correctly, isn't there a part of it that fits inside the hole to keep the shaft from turning too far in the glass? I believe that some of the factory ones were plastic. If you used a regular washer, you would need to get something into the hole to hold the shaft from rotating and cushion the glass edge.

I’ve never disassembled one, but now that I’ve looked it up you’re correct @6872xtc. Cant find any place that sells that part separately, not even Dorman. Everyone just sells the latch as a kit. If it were me I’d be making a mold and playing with some fiberglass, but I enjoy doing things like that. :tongue1:

I’m not sure but it looks to be just a nylon washer. I’m betting you could go to ace hardware and source one that’ll do. Probably need one on each side to protect the glass. I’ve used them before on plexi faceplates on speaker boxes.

That's not a bad idea. I've got some banjo bolt washers that are like steel rings with rubber sealing part. Gonna try that.
