So I recently swapped out my driver's side vent window seal (part number 15661415 from gmpartsdirect) and after all that work I can see daylight in two locations! (head hits desk...)

My question is, I noticed that the factory seals were in two pieces but the new one was one piece. Should I have put in a two piece seal or is there something else I should be doing? I may just spend a couple hours and put the factory seals back in.

Oh, and it's a '87 Blazer.

Am I the only one who's messed with these seals?

Apparently gmpartsdirect said that the one piece seal replaced the two piece. So if I want a two piece, I'll have to get it from LMC.

I have not messed with them. I get pissed when someone opens my vent windows lol, I'm deathly afraid of them starting to leak. (like that would be the only thing wrong with the truck lol)

Others have torn them down, but I've never heard of there being a problem on reassembly. I can't imagine the door is screwed up JUST in that location, so something else must be going on. Can you compare the stuff you took out with the new? If the problem is that large, the difference should be visually obvious even uninstalled.

i dont like messn' w/my wing windows, i've had the handle break to much....i had 1 pop off the pass. side while i was drivin down road nobody messin w/it..while it was raining!

i've seen people black rtv them shut

I use them all the time. My air conditioning stopped working a couple years ago so the default for me is at least one vent window open.

My problem isn't that bad, I'm just picky about some things. After closer examination, I think that replacing the screw I put in the hinge with an actual rivet will fix one of my holes. The other one, I'm probably just going to fill with sealant. If all of that doesn't work, then I'll put the factory one back in. I wish I'd known it was going to be such a pain before I did it; I wouldn't have even started!

becareful, sum time the handle falls off easily and w/window open the handle falls ouutside the truck...check the roll pin holding the handle on it will/can vibrate out, then the handle vibrates off also

Two piece should of been a 73 - 80 vent wing and a one piece is 81-91 check LMC Truck they are your friend for pictures.

Are your doors the original?

Yes they are the original doors. I have looked at LMC's pictures that's why I'm second guessing the one-piece design.
