Does anybody make the vent window trim piece for the 73-87 Blazer?

this is the metal "rim" that the glass fits directly into...I can't seem to find them anywhere...not sure if they were chrome or or what...
:dunno:

Number 6 here? http://www.group1autoparts.com/oem-...re/glass-and-hardware/vent-assy-left/20307715

20307715 is the proper GM number for the LH side, the RH side ends in 16

Don't see it on gmpartsdirect but they also have a big warning saying they are having a problem.

The single piece that pivots (the channel the glass sits in) is not shown as having a separate part number.

IIRC, at least one person on here was talking about drilling out whatever it pivots on, to replace it. IMO, if you are that far into it, just replace the whole thing, IF you can get the part.

LMC wants $699.00 + shipping for that assembly...

If LMC is selling it, especially for that price, that probably indicates it's still available from GM (or was just very recently disco'd)...but is still going to be expensive, even taking out LMC's cut.

Good thing you said something, you made me go back and look at the parts manual again. For some reason they have ANOTHER page with just the vent window broken down.

There are 34 pieces for JUST the vent window. You might be in luck. The "Sash", which has a shaft sticking out the bottom (what the window pivots on), is PN 20264736 and 37 LH/RH respectively.

Anything other than that, besides the weatherstripping and window lock pieces, you have to buy the part numbers I gave previously, which you said was very expensive.

I wonder if the sash is the same? I found out that the 73-77 are the same as far as the whole assembly. They changed the window shape at 78 apparently.

I'm guessing its not, and that's just a barely educated guess that the 20264736 number is a "later" one, as the early part numbers all appear to be 6 digits.

But now that you know what it's called, perhaps you can find one easier.

I just looked at 3 different doors, all my vent window assembles are painted mild steel, no stainless or chrome here. I've got a couple more doors in the garage, didn't think to check them, but maybe that's part of what changed?

OK...I think I got it covered now...I just found a driver's side whole assembly on eBay for $29.99
It is way cleaner than my original which has the cracked / broken sash.
It is very fixable with no rust on the parts that show...so sanding and painting will make it look like new.

For the passenger side I had already bought one in a parts yard and fixed it up and painted it, but the sash was broke on it. But I have the original passenger side vent which I can remove the sash from it and clean and paint it and rivet it back on.

A bit of work that I wish I didn't have to do right now, but I think I got all the pieces...if nothing goes wrong.

Those OEM sashes were painted black...by the way...
