Hi;
I recently purchased a 88 K5. Someone has replaced the headlights with an aftermarket halogen kit w/relays. Never having a dual headlight vehicle before, I'm not sure how to adjust them, nor am I 100% sure the aftermarket kit was installed correctly. I can see better with low beams than hi! I tried eyeballing adjusting them last night and got it a little better.

The low beams are on the bottom and are dual element. When high beams are on, all 4 lights are on. The low beams change which element is in use between low and hi. Does this seem correct?

I've seen instructions on marking a wall or garage door with headlight height, park vehicle 24 feet out and aim low beams 2" below and 2" to right. But could not find instructions on how to do this with 4 headlight setup.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Here's an update...
The problem was not adjustment, the aftermarket wiring harness (installed by PO) was not for the bulbs that had been installed. The aftermarket headlights are 9007/HB5. After extensive reading, I found that HB4 and HB5 (and maybe another bulb) share the same socket, but the pins are wired differently. So in my case, I think the wiring harness was perhaps for a HID/Halogen setup, or who knows, all I know is it was backwards.

I finally disconnected the top headlights and watched the bottom as I switched between low and high beams and it was definitely backwards. The top headlights only have 2 wires so this meant that on low beam, the bottom two headlights were on high, and on high beams, all four headlights were on low!

I switched the wires in the sockets around and now have it working correctly. I should be able to adjust them correctly now!

Glad you found the problem. It sounds like the LMC kit or something similar. I'm pleased with the light output on mine, if it requires adjustment, it's the same procedure as with the original sealed beam headlights. Although you might want to have some extra adjusters handy. They crack and strip over time, and the replacements usually don't last either.
