Very Basic Zero rate question

The round part goes down, there's a hole in the perch on the axle for it to fit into.

Awsome..

All this is starting to make sense now.. Sorry I'm such a noob, thanks to all yall for bearing with me.

And I suppose I need to use lock nuts on the bolts that I round off, correct?

I've found that using allen bolts of the proper length work perfect as the head is already round and of the correct diameter and they're grade 8 too.

That's a great idea. And then I wouldn't have to fight vise grips if I ever take them back apart. Where can I get grade 8 allen bolts?

thanks,
James

You can, but don't have to use lock nuts. The u-bolts will ultimately hold the springs together, the center bolt keeps them, well, centered.

Cool cool. So should I be able to find allen bolts at home depot? Or will I have to go to a specialty fitting store?

thanks,
James

I don't think home depot will have them, but I'd try it. I usually go to Ace hardware, if they don't have it, they can get what I need in a few days. Honestly, if you can't find allen head bolts, I would just use fine thread grade 8 bolts and round off the head. They aren't hard to get off, once you have a c-clamp on either side of it, it doesn't take much.
