i started replacing the water pump on the church's suburban (it's an 87?), and got it all off to find out that the replacement i have is not the right one - it has the bypass on it, where as this suburban doesn't call for one with a bypass. the parts store is closed today. anyway, i need to park it so i can close my garage doors.

can i turn the truck on, with water pump missing, fan, fan belt pulley and belt all off and back it up a few feet so i can close my doors?

seems to me that it wouldn't be a problem. i have to parallel park it along the fence next to the garage, so it's not as simple as putting it in neutral and pushing it back.

What engine is it? Does it have V-belts or serp belt? You might be able to just plug the bypass hose on the pump with a NPT plug and use that pump. Sometimes there is a plug supplied with the pump because of this exact reason.

x3

instead of drawing the water from the intake and the water pump they moved the hose to the radiator. there should have been a plug in the box to cap it off. or grab it out of the old pump if you haven't done the core swap yet.

hmmm. i didn't see a plug in the box. it is a serp. style. i did it, everything went fine. i'll pick up the replacement and throw it on there tomorrow. :) thanks guys.
