So I finally had the chance to go fishing with the kids and I had a blast doing it. BUT I also stuck the burb (for the first time!!) I drove off into a gully that was mud sediment from the river backing up. When I got out to winch my rear bumper was sitting on the ground! Still kicking my self for not having the camera.

I had no problem winching out and went on about my business. The problem was I did not have enough power at all from my tired 400. I couldn't even get my wheels to spin, they just bogged down and I couldn't move.

About mid July I will have about $1300 to $1500 to spend on the burb. I am leaning towards regearing both axles to 5.38s with a detroit in the rear. I have a stock 454 that I plan on swapping in about mid June. If I can get the cash I was going to add a mild cam and hedders before I drop it. With the swap and gear change, should it be enough to get the big 38.5s spinning???

I was turning 40s with 3.73 gears in my 89, dont' think you will have a problem...

should be fine. just dont get crazy with the cam. the gears wil probably help your current tired engine as well.
