eh, it's my composite dealer...

Everytime I go to hook up with him it's an adventure.. Thing is, it's such a hassle hooking up with him, I like to buy as much as I can... Well, that and everytime I see him, I wonder if he'll be dead the next time I call!!! :doah::crazy:

The handlayed mold wasn't quite right, and to keep working it wasn't going to be the best long-term, repeatable approach.. I've since restarted it using composite and am very happy with the initial work...

So far it looks like I'm picking up at least a few sheets and some other strutural shape stuff.. Enough to do the mold, rear side panels, stuff for the cowl induction box, overhead console and new floor console...

switches

look at these. I have one in my DD truck. work great. They come labelled with whatever you might want. Pretty good assortment of types, colors, ect

Well ryoken, I think you are going to find a huge market for these if they will fit trucks as well as blazers. I think they will right? You should be able to tell from the 160+ posts on this thread (BTW I read every single one) that there is intrest! I think the best way to do I would be to do the website as talked about, and have a choice of different gauges, different switches, etc. I would get a business licence and contact the mfg of the parts you are going to use and then you can buy gauges, switches, lights etc. direct for less money. Then you could be an Autometer dealer! Or what every company you choose. Sounds like a sweet deal to me! I don't know if I would buy one because of the requirement of my local mud races (has to be stock dash) but I think it is a great idea and will catch on great.

WOW! That's a sweet dash setup Ryoken! I'd like to get one! If you could do one fully set up for an 87 with a full gauge setup, 7 Contura switches, and slots for my stock heater controls and a CD player, I'd be all over it! Looks great! I hope ya get the mold issues worked out okay!:waytogo:

Ryoken, if you need a hand with some mold design, shoot me a pm. I have a deep background in injection and blow molding. I might be able to offer you some assistance with mold design. Plus I need one for myself.

hey guys, sorry I haven't gotten back to this.. no new news, it's on the back burner for now as work has unfortunately become my life lately... :(

hopefully as my schedule eases up, I can start up again...

WORK you ought to be taken out back and locked in the garage for a weekend.. :D

Was wondering where you been. Glad to hear you are alive and punching. Any time you want to get rid of your skills I know someone who would just love to have 1/10 th of them.

Take care and take a break from time to time to have some fun.

thanks man!

Funny thing is, I put that nightmare job out the door a couple weeks ago and thought I'd get a reprieve.. nope, all the department heads took vacay, so I've kinda had to the run the yard the last couple weeks...

but MY vacay starts thurs, about 1/2 fun, 1/2 the blazer... hopefully if I get a bunch done on the truck, I can start putting a little time into this project..

oh, am I supposed to be sending you a PM? :doah::wink1:

Wow! I think your dash looks fantastic! I have a 1981 K20 and the speedo pointer bounces around until I get to 30mph. Maybe sell a blank dash ( no holes ) and include several cardboard templates people can choose. Include a list with the part numbers and size ( that matches your cardboard template ) of guages from several manufacturers. I personally would want an electric speedo that is standard size (4 inch ?) 0 - 85 mph and odometer. A standard size ( 4 inch ) electric tachometer 0 - 6000 rpm (270 degree sweep).
Post a price for the blank dash with cardboard cut outs in this forum. If the cost is resonable you are hot to go. Also Include (if available) with the blank dash the mating plug (pigtail) from an instrument panel and the pin identification guide, so all your customer needs to do is replace the factory sensor with the aftermarket one and wire up the guage using the pin identification guide.

eesh, thanks, but nothing at this point.... I'm so preoccupied with other things, it's on the backburner, unfortunately........

I do have a much better idea on what it will take to go into production, so hopefully it will be successful next time..

on a stupid sidenote, I have a new console build coming up that I hope will tie into the dash nicely and may give some ideas to others...

a custom console would be sweet. i wouldnt mind trying to build my own i just need direction so this may be what i need

thanks... defintely a one-off due to the custom trans tunnel I'm doing, but I'm thinking the "look" will be, hopefully, inspiring...

it is somewhat of a pre-runner style not unfamiliar to some in here... but I'm hoping to add my own flare to it.. something that makes ya just LOVE being in the driver-seat....

do you have rock sliders? i have looked through your thread but there is so much to it lol

I'm in the middle of a floor, tunnel, slider gig right now. that I started to go into towards the end of my build thread.. kinda bouncing around as I get parts.. need/want to get my PRP seats in before I finalize those plans.. so I've shifted to smoothing the firewall and frame, and really concentrating on the winch, bumper center, now that I have my winch.. I'm very rejuvenated on the build, and putting some hrs in.. I'm VERY stoked on how the bumper is looking.. I'm more pleased with how this is turning out than any mod I've done to date prolly... lot of cutting and welding coming up..

I have some updates to the thread, but I'm trying to hold off until a few of the projects are done...
