I'm thinking about buying one of these, going portable for RV and camping use in addition to kids bikes etc. Doing a search shows a lot of haters who yell "go york" but that only solves 1/2 my air compressor needs.

Anyone like these things?

I dont know where you live, but where I live I can get those all the time for $100.00. Around here on CL, the lowrider crowd sells Viair's all day long. I have though about buying a couple, but haven't yet. Check CL.

Reno craigslist shows one (not the same model) for $75. not many lowriders around here anymore, going the way of the Mullet I hope. :)

Ordered it. Let the write-up / product review begin...

seems like a good unit..........did you buy it from them or another online resource? what it cost to your door?

that's a good price for that piece of equipment, i'm looking forward to your critique on it. i think i'll mosey on over to that website and look into some stuff.......thanks, Bill

That includes 3 day shipping, hope to have it before a trip on the 22nd.

It depends on what all you want to do with it.

It can inflate a 37-inch tire from 0 to 30 PSI in less than 5 minutes

5 minutes! Considering its slower as the pressure increases, it would be pretty long to air up 4 tires to get back on the road.

3.0 CFM @ 0 PSI

0 PSI, I would hate to see the spec at 40 or 90 psi like most compressors are rated.

It seems pretty slow. If you just want it for bike tires and stuff, then you will probably like it. It would cheaper to get a rechargeable emergency unit from wally world for that though.

If you want to fill up inflatable toys and stuff while camping or boating, you are better off with a impeller type high flow, low pressure type device. Much faster than a high pressure, low volume piece.

If you want to fill up offroad tires with it, then I think you will get annoyed with how slow that is. With a york my 3 gallon air tank fills from 0 - 125 psi in about 20 seconds. I can pump my tires up a faster than my 25 gallon - 6.0 cfm @ 90 psi compressor in my garage, and that's at idle. A high idle or more would improve that significantly.

EDIT: I see it does list the specs for that compressor. 1.6 CFM @ 90 PSI

So i ordered the compressor from 4WPW on Thursday and paid for it to be sent via three day air. It showed up the next day! So Far so good.

I unpacked it and got grief from my wife - used it to test the fact that it powered on and nothing else. Tomorrow afternoon I am going snow wheeling in the Sierra's, airing down is an understatement so I should have a good report (or bad report) by Sunday.

Two pictures of unpacking it - should include a picture of my wifes face and the disgust, but I dont think that fast and she was gone before I thought of it...

Just to follow up on this and anyone who is interested:

I deflated my tires to 10 PSI each, at the end of the 15 Mile rock crawling trail in the snow and rain, with no top, (I mounted a tarp to the windshield frame and over the role cage) freezing my butt off and now sobering up for the ride home this POS took SEVEN Minutes per tire from 10 PSI to 30 PSI.

Bias ply 37x16x14 Swamper Irok on MT Classic II rims. Save your money and buy a PowerTank. Slow as hell.

Wow, almost 30min to air up 4 tires. Thats way too slow. You need to get a Co2 tank!
