My 1990 K5 with 137,000 miles has started vibrating badly during acceleration with a noticeable loss of power. Could this the sign of a failing u-joint? I've read for a long time about how Blazers tend to go through u-joints, but my other Blazer, a one-owner 1989, has gone 190,000 miles and still has its original u-joints. Its trans, however, was rebuilt at 181,000. Thanks for the help.

I'm thinking more like it needs a tune-up, plug wires or the like, or the motor has lost compression in one or more cylinders.

U-joints would make vibration, sure, but no loss of power.

A failing trans could cause what you're describing but u-joints won't affect power. It could be related to the motor like dremu said.
