Truck

Here are a few shots of the mock up motor tranny and T case, The motor is going to be a 13to1 358ci Nascar style motor with a set of full race Pontiac race heads it should make around 700 hp, I will use a TH 400 and a NP 205 T case, I just got my Deaver springs today so after i finish the rest of the tube work i can start on the suspension,

Looks like from the arch of the springs, you're gonna incorporate axles to sit on top of the spring packs, right? Spring-under-axle in other words. I've seen thousands of Baja trucks running spring-unders.

How soon til the axles get to the shop? I'm curious to see how they look.

front axle

I wanted to to a long travel IFS but in the time i have to do it i did not want to spend the time doing R&D and testing, Class 3 rules calls for factory style leaf spring suspension, Some years back Score let a guy with a mid 1980 Blazer install a IFS so that made it so i can do it, I plan on doing a 2nd race Blazer next year so that one will be IFS

Leaf Springs

If i had a choice i would not build a leaf spring race truck, My hands were tied, This Blazer fits with my Vintage collection and where iam going with the history and the people behind the Vic Hickey Vehicles, If i was going to build a race truck i would build a class 8 or better, o if iam going to build a class 3 it should be to the best i can make it,My next race truck might be a class 8 fiberglass body 1969 Chevy 2wd truck with trailing arms and King coilovers on the rear and long travel A arms and King coilovers up front like the modern race trucks, but thats next year for now i need to finish this Blazer, Iam having a lot of fun with this build and iam going to have even more fun racing it:D

At the rate your going, I think your going to be title holder for fastest build in CK5 history. Very cool stuff.

Blazer build

Thanks but i have been only working about 2 to 4 hours a day for the last 2 weeks, My Mom got very sick and was in the Hospital for 12 days in the ICU so i had to be there for her and stay with her at her house when she got home, But iam about to knock this thing out, I hope to have all the cage work done and tin done and the springs moiunted on the new mounts and shackels by the end of next week, And then i will build the custom fiberglass trophy truck style body molds built so i can get the body skin on,Its going to show alot of progress in the next 3 weeks, And remember this is the first time i have ever built a off road race truck-Blazer, It should be a blast when its done, I HOPE!

Man, you're still FAR faster than most of us...okay, the VAST majority of us.

That just makes your work all the more impressive. If you don't mind me asking, what is your background - am I correct in assuming you have done fabricating type work in the past?
