**VID** off roading with full size trailer, lol

yep, I think I've seen this before here. It's crazy they drag that trailer everywhere. I wouldn't mind just doing the trails and sleeping in a tent.

funny part is, they go over terrain with a trailer Id be leary of going with just my K5. .ol..that rock bed looks like it would leave some wicked marks on my truck, let alone dragging a trailer. Although they did get stuck a few times but some of the recoveries were pretty good. I like the chase/support truck too. lol

I miss doing that kind of driving. Used to haul a 38 foot toy hauler, flipped axles, custom 5th wheel mount. I hate camping near other people. We would drive to the end of camping areas, then keep going. People would stop to ask how we got the trailer in there.

Tore fender flairs off a number of times. Bent the rear bumper repeatedly. My kids still talk about those trips. Son says I would love cursing around Iraq, if it weren't for the insurgents.

Makes American wheelers look pretty tame. I'd rather do that kind of stuff than lift my truck to the sky and put 40's on it and make it useless for anything other than mud or rocks or whatever. That Toyota towing the trailer prolly see's Aussie soccer mom duty when it's not doing that.

That vid is totally bad-a. Both those trucks are Toyota Land Cruisers, very unlike the one we have here. The support truck is the pickup version, solid front and rear axles, selectable lockers front and rear (factory) and a 4.2l inline 6 turbodiesel. The tow rig is the "Troopie" version, because the UN used them for many years, and can be outfitted just the same as the pickup. I'd sell my left nut to get one in LHD here in America.

From what I understand Australia is pretty strict with their lift restrictions and tire size limits. Companies like ARB and Old Man Emu, both Aussie based, focus their products on improving the vehicle as is from the factory with minimal lift.

Personally, I like this style of wheeling. Keeping the vehicle streetable and comfortable for daily use yet strong and capable enough to go out and wheel some fun stuff. That works for me.

I saw them at a camping show last year and bought all their DVD's....they are really a nice bunch of guys. The stuff they do with the van's is outrageous.

I've been through some of the areas they shot for the DVD's and there is no way in hell I'd drag a van through it if I had bought it, those vans cost $30k-$50k. But, its a pretty good ad for their business, the off-road van market here is very competitive.

The troopy they use is exactly the same as the ones I use at work, I find them a bit 'tinny', kinda like a coke can.

The engines OK, nothing blistering, but its an upgrade to the old diesel 6. All the panels are as about as thin as you can get away with and do not have near the solid feel of the true troopies (2 door models). On corrugations they shake like crazy. They are skinny too, if you need to put three blokes in the back seat they better be good mates!

I nearly wet my pants when I heard Toyota was doing a 4 door troopy with a V8 diesel, but after using them I'll stick to my old Chevy trucks thankyou very much!

that is some real cool stuff there......i really like a capable "stock like" rig on those types of trails. i'm very surprised that hitch setup holds up though, i'd sure be thinking something back there would break. good on them.....

1. they need to air down those tires on the trailer...
2. need a set of mattrax :pimp:
3. need me to come out there and giverhellz!!!!!!!!!! :haha:

that was cool.... i always liked the camper trailer thing.. most i have seen had lifts/matching tires as truck.... lifted..etc...

i always just said.. hell put a pickup bed tend on and go!!!!!!!!! but i love sleeping in a tent.... well i have a 4 room tent!!!!!!!!!!
