Is there a way to tell from the vin whether the truck originally came with a longbed or stepside?

Ok, what do you do if you don't have the RPO sticker on the glove box door that contains the Model Number? Is there any other place to find it?
You can always call GM and get the package for it. It will include a new RPO sticker. Can't remember the number off hand, search for it, there's a thread on it somewhere in here. It's free, or like a $10 mailing/admin fee or something IIRC, I did it a few years back for a 1970 impala. Nice package. Gives you everything and anything you wanted to know about the car as it was orginally delivered.

i called and really did not get that much info there was nothing they gave specific to my truck
