I've got a chance to buy this blazer and I'm having trouble deciding the vin to see what I'm looking at. Anybody able to help?

Was it a mafia truck? I would be concerned about the blood on the RPO label. But I guess it can be washed.

C...Chevrolet
C...2WD
E...V8
1...1/2 ton
4...Pickup
2...1972
S...St. Louis

and agreed, the options list seems at odds with the VIN....check the vin plate or frame for a VIN #?...maybe a typo on the SPID?

Is there a separate code for blazer? Pickup seems like maybe this vin goes with a truck, but it's odd that it lists locking hubs with a 2wd vin regardless. Guess I'll try to see the frame stamp. Pretty sure these trucks didn't have anything in the door jam.

Looks like 8 would be a Blazer, where the 4 shows pickup.

mine has one on the door jamb

You sure it’s the correct glove box to the truck and not just some random replacement? It should match the door jamb and frame if its correct.

Yeah, really need to see the vin tag on the truck, or frame.
They do make repro SPID’s

If I was buying it I would make sure the title matches the vin tag on cab door jamb. No vin tag on door jamb= no sale for me. Possession of a vehicle without a vin tag even if it is not stolen is a class 4 felony. That info is straight from an auto theft detective. Also special roset rivets should be on vin tag. It sucks to have a vehicle taken from you that you have done a bunch of work to.

This is why I check everything before buying. Including the rivets. I have seen vehicles with 3/16 aluminum rivets in the VIN plates. I have bough correct ones in the past, so that can still be faked also. And get it in my name before I spend any more money on it.

That SPID list looks like a typical worn original. I would think that it would be difficult to fake all of the information on it, the fading of the typed letters and numbers as well as the overall look. But it may be deceptive in the picture.
VIN plates were in the door jamb until the mid 70s, possibly '77. Check for the rosette head rivets as Wade said.

The option list looks like what a Blazer would have, the removable top and rear seat. Does it have A/C in the dash?

I'm just trying to say that the whole thing will tell you the story, look at all of it.
