Ok since I pulled the trigger on an Engineered Vintage winch bumper and have a Warn 8274 winch waiting in the wings it's time to let the current setup go.
The bumper itself was a Premium Warn bumper, which was quite a bit different than the "bumper in a box" that most of the winch companies sold back in the day. It was completely assembled vs the other one requiring put together. Full disclosure, this puppy has been used. It carries scars from great wheeling trips past, but it hasn't been any less useful. The snow wheeling trip I went on with the circus caused the worst damage, being that the factory tow hook grade 8 bolt broke under the load of two trucks yanking my heavy rig out of frame deep snow. The hook and rope that was attached to it went up and put a twist to the right side. The face of the bumper did split and caused some delamination of the chrome. The twist got worked out with a couple of 20,000psi pulls on a frame bench. I added another dent on Steelbender this year at Blazer Bash.
Despite the beating, the bumper still is still solid and provides quite the platform to get up and work under the hood. I stand up on it regularly and it doesn't flinch or flex with my heavy butt standing on it. Strip it, weld up the cracks, and fog it with paint or run it as is. There is life left in it for sure.
The Warn winch has pulled its fair share. Though I've noticed lately if I go to use it, the motor may require a light tap to get going in either direction. It doesn't happen all the time, but a couple of taps and it's back running again. I'm guessing it probably needs a set of brushes, but I haven't taken the effort to dive deeper.
There you have it. A vintage bumper with some issues and a winch that needs a tune up. I have no delusions about what I think it's worth. I'm willing to take offers. I can deliver along the front range, but it's too large to deal with shipping. If you are interested send me a PM and we can talk.
