Are awesome-looking. They actually look historical.

The state of Montana has a very cool license plate program for historic vehicles.

If you can find a set of Montana plates from the year your vehicle was made you can use those as your current plates (there are some minor details/restrictions).

Last summer I bought a 1966 427/425 hp Corvette roadster. (I've wanted one of these for a loooong time and finally got one.) Anyway, I found a set of original 1966 Montana plates (from the correct county no less!) in pretty decent shape. The exceptionally nice lady at the county DMV helped me make it happen. You get a very small sticker for the rear plate that says "Perm".

Mississippi has an antique vehicle tag. The vehicle must be at least 25 years old. I just got mine. It's a 1 time fee of $25, and you never have to renew the tag again. They aren't the best looking things, but at least i don't have to renew my tag every year now. One more downside is, the Blazer is registered as a car since it is an SUV, so the tag says "antique car". I like the idea of being able to run a tag from the year the vehicle was made, that would be cool.

I really like the Law Enforcement Memorial plates we have here.. not year specific or anything, but they look sharp.. and the proceeds go to the Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation instead of the state, so it's a good cause as well.

bodacious- thats sweet to have a one time fee....i wonder if they have that for alabama?

The plates were actually my Dad's. He had them on his '73 Monte Carlo in...1973. :D They've just been hanging in our garage all these years. They wer in surprisingly good shape. All I had to do was touch up the white here and there.

I have the historical vehicle plate on my 82 for Arizona obviously.

A old picture I removed the ridiculous grab handles.

Michigan's got the old plate rule too. My grandpa literally had a milk crate full of license plates when he passed (back to the 20's!) and I ended up giving two great shape '73 plates to my buddy for his AMC Javelin.

My grandpa saved his vanity plates over the years too. He had them all mounted on the rafters in his garage, going back to '55. The plate number is still in use today on my grandma's car, but the older ones can still be used if you get the historical vehicle registration. The '66 plates are on my dad's C-10, and the '69 plates will be on my Impala soon.

I would have to get the top left one for mine if I wanted the one it wore when new.

damn, year plates ended in Cali by 69 and were 6-digit Last year of a year marking is 63. Although my plates are the original commercial 7 digit, i take them off the truck when offroading just to not mess them up. Its really hard to find an old truck with the factory plates nowadays.

this is the currnent antique plate thats permanent registration for the rear of the Z28.

and the actual Alberta 73 plate that I run on the front of the car. I could actually register the 73 plate for the rear of the car but I haven't got around to doing it.

So the plates always stay with the vehicle? Got a pic of yours?

I have 63 Plates that were on my bug and I'm going to use them for my bus if I every get it running. In Utah you can use year issue and not get charged anything extra they are just like normal plated.
