Okay, so I have a 79 k5. It sat in the moutains for 11 years, so I lucked out and got it for a whomping 250 Dollars..
Well anyways, each time I go to leave, i have to get a jump.. I have replaced, the battery 3 times, the alternator 3 times and the starter 3 times... And as soon as I start it, the volts are instantly as low as they can be... And if im driving at night.. I pretty much loose all electronics to the truck... headlights go out, windows stop working. and all that stuff.. EXCEPT! when this is happening my "FASTEN SEAT BELT" light is the only thing that is on.. And usually when you give the truck gas it starts to charge the battery.. But mine, when IO give her gas, she sucks the life out of my battery... Any help would be nice.. I really really dont want to have to sell the truck, but if it comes to it, ill have to>.<

Throw your battery on a charger (overnight on slow trickle charge) then install the battery back into the vehicle and now hook up the ground cable but leave the positive cable off, now hook up a DVOM (set to amps) one lead to the postive battery post and the other to the positive cable and now see what the meter reads. You are hoping for a very small number but with what you have going on you should have a decent size number facing you. Now you can start pulling fuses until the reading goes away and THAT is the circuit that is giving you the trouble. Now you just need to figure out which item on that circuit is the culprit.

Make sure that is a DC ammeter to test with.

Not only that, it better be heavier than 20 amps.
