Can my 01 V70 AWD move down the road with the rear drive shaft removed ?

According to what I'm seeing, which is a slightly newer version (04), you should be able to drive without the rear shaft. All power should go to the front wheels, but hopefully someone with more knowledge can speak up. It does say that it will handle much different and get worse mileage than having the shaft in place.
Carrier bearing go out???
No seems it is the output shaft in some way or another. Works good now, seems a bit faster, maybe?
